Looe Rifle Club, Cornwall, U.K.

About us

We are a small club based in Looe, Southeast Cornwall, approximately 25 miles away from Plymouth in the U.K.

We have a 25 yard indoor shooting gallery that is proofed for up to and including the use of .44 Special and can cater for air rifle and bb guns, black powder shooters, small and full bore pistols, and small and full bore rifle provided loads are downloaded in order to meet range limits.

Our members come from a wide range of backrounds and have a collective wealth of experience in many fields such as competition shooting and hunting.

We do allow the use of military style rifles, we are aware that some clubs do frown upon these due to "the way they look" but we welcome all styles of firearm as long as they adhere to the letter of the law.

Our range is Home Office approved, and our range staff are NRA qualified.

You do not have to already have a firearms certficate in order to join a shooting club, however if you do join then please be aware that the Police will perform a backround check for any criminality. This is done routinely as a matter of course for all prospective members and for those applying for a firearms certificate. If you have never been in trouble with the law, then you have nothing at all to worry about!

The club has its origins in WW2 as it used to be the hut for the local Home Guard to meet up in. Ever since then it's been in use as a shooting range up to and including the present day. It doesn't have the most modern facilites however we are currently rebuilding and improving the range to remedy this. The location is good and the banter friendly. We of course have the all important tea and coffee making facilities.

Like most small clubs, some members go the extra mile and help with cleaning and running of the range which benefits our club massively as what they do is voluntary. If it wasn't for these individuals our club wouldn't be the smooth running and popular shooting venue that it is today. On an average Thursday we can find ourselves with around 20-30 shooters of various ages using the range throughout the course of the evening.

We are friendly and approachable, so if you live in the surrounding area and fancy seeing what we shoot and have in interest in taking up a new hobby then please contact us via the contacts page which also lists our opening times.
